LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (AP) - Los Alamos is now equipped with bear-resistant trash containers at 10 locations throughout the city.

The Los Alamos Monitor reports (https://bit.ly/2eryhnU ) that the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish provided the 13 cans after receiving complaints from the Los Alamos Medical Center.

The $31,500 cost of the project will be split between the department, the medical center and Los Alamos County.

The bear-resistant dumpsters feature heavy metal lids with two smaller access doors for people to use.
