Vice President Joseph R. Biden is taking aim at Donald Trump’s energy and stamina, wagering that the GOP presidential nominee couldn’t make it through a round of golf carrying his own bag.

“I’ll bet he couldn’t carry his bag 18 holes on one of his own golf courses, speaking of energy,” Mr. Biden said in an interview for CNN’s “New Day” Tuesday.

“I think the real issue here — can you imagine the president getting up at 3:30 in the morning and tweeting vitriol?” Mr. Biden said.

“I really mean this … this man lacks any sensibilities about the American people,” Mr. Biden said. “I don’t get it. And he is so woefully uninformed on foreign policy, it’s dangerous.”

Mr. Trump has said Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton lacks the “mental and physical stamina” to take on the Islamic State terrorist group and other U.S. adversaries.

At an event in Pennsylvania over the weekend, he also mocked and mimed Mrs. Clinton’s recent stumbling at a 9/11 memorial event. Her staff belatedly said Mrs. Clinton was battling pneumonia at the time.

“Here’s a woman — she’s supposed to fight all of these different things, and she can’t make it 15 feet to her car,” Mr. Trump said. “Give me a break.”

Mr. Biden’s “tweeting vitriol” line is a reference to Mr. Trump’s tweet about former Miss Universe Alicia Machado early Friday morning. Mrs. Clinton had invoked Ms. Machado’s name during last week’s presidential debate, and Ms. Machado has said Mr. Trump disparaged her for gaining weight after her 1996 pageant win.

Mr. Trump has said he saved Ms. Machado’s job and that the staff wanted to fire her for gaining weight.
