BALTIMORE HIGHLANDS, Md. (AP) - Authorities say a massive blaze in a plastics warehouse in Baltimore County continues to burn 24 hours after it was first reported.

County police and fire officials said in a news release Wednesday afternoon that firefighters were still trying to get to the seat of the blaze at Adell Plastics Inc. in Baltimore Highlands. Three fire trucks and four engines remain on scene.

The fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday. Officials say all occupants escaped without injury.

Firefighters say the warehouse was filled with cardboard boxes and unknown material, and the fire quickly escalated. The fire spewed thick, black smoke that could be seen for miles. Walls and roofs collapsed; building engineers say the facility is unsafe for firefighters to enter.

One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.
