AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - The Maine Marine Patrol says a $2,000 reward is being offered for assistance leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the sinking of a lobster boat.

Officials say the 35-foot boat, Liberty, owned by Anthony Hooper, has been sunk three times in two months. The most recent sinking was Friday evening, just two nights after the boat was raised and repaired.

The reward is being offered through Maine’s Operation Game Thief.

Marine Patrol Maj. Rene Cloutier said program’s focus is traditionally on poaching violations. He says the partnership will help investigators “pursue serious violations that undermine the ability of hard working fishermen to make a living on the water.”
