PITTSBURGH (AP) - FedEx is promising to donate $5 million to help expand one of four Carnegie museums in Pittsburgh.

The Carnegie Science Center said Wednesday the gift is part of a campaign launched two years ago to more than double the center’s educational space and expand its science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programming.

Officials with the Memphis, Tennessee-based shipping company say they’ve always supported the science center.

The company says the headquarters for FedEx Ground is located in Pittsburgh. More than half of the area’s 3,000 FedEx workers are in STEM fields.

The Pittsburgh Tribune Review reports plans include adding a science pavilion, which will house the FedEx STEM Learning Labs and a special exhibitions gallery.
