GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A federal grand jury has indicted the managing partner of a commercial financing business in Gautier on wire-fraud charges.

An indictment filed in U.S. District Court says Thomas Lepre of Alternative Financing Group sought investors for funds to loan money to commercial clients, and instead converted the money to his own use.

The five counts of wire fraud reportedly involve a total of $519,000.

Lepre told The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/2bFAvkR) Wednesday he was caught by complete surprise.

Lepre’s indictment appeared in online court records Wednesday. The indictment was filed Aug. 23 with a request from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for an arrest warrant. His arraignment is set for Sept. 22.
