LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Sen. Deb Fischer says the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has approved a new lease program that will allow for the redevelopment of the VA’s campus in Lincoln.

Fischer says the department announced Thursday it had approved the lease program, which she described as the final agreement needed to redevelop the campus.

Fischer has been working with the VA to redevelop its 60-acre campus in east Lincoln with a focus on reducing veteran homelessness and getting rid of excess property.
