WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) - A Waukesha County man is accused of beating and choking his mother after an argument over having his cat spayed.

A criminal complaint against 27-year-old Martin Pfefferle includes six charges, including strangulation and suffocation. Pfefferle’s mother told police her son became angry Sunday because she had the cat spayed without his knowledge. She said her son began to beat her and choke her.

WISN-TV (https://bit.ly/2bXwMyJ ) reports that when sheriff’s deputies arrived, Pfefferle fled in a pickup truck. Deputies followed and Pfefferle was arrested after his pickup spun out and landed in a ditch. Authorities say a large machete was found on the passenger floorboard.

Court records do not list a defense attorney.
