DENVER (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a man who was fatally shot as he fought with three Denver police officers who were trying to arrest him on a felony warrant.

Cmdr. Barb Archer says 21-year-old Michael Ferguson was trying to grab an officer’s gun from his holster during the struggle Wednesday, and the firearm discharged. It’s unclear who pulled the trigger.

The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/73kZBS ) that after that shot, an 11-year veteran involved in the fight shot Ferguson.

Ferguson had fled when police showed up at a home to arrest him. He tried to get away in a stolen car and then by trying to steal a police vehicle. When the police car didn’t work for him, he began running and was ultimately involved in a struggle with police.

The officers suffered minor injuries during the scuffle.
