BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - Two meetings are being held next week about a plan to construct a solar energy project on a closed and capped landfill in a Vermont town.

The Brattleboro Reformer (https://bit.ly/2bY9s3G ) reports that the Windham Solid Waste Management District will hold two sessions Sept. 6 on the 5 megawatt landfill proposal. The meetings will provide an opportunity to ask about the landfill.

The town had a deal with NextSun Energy- a company that develops and constructs scale solar systems -for the project. But officials announced in June that the contract was canceled after disagreements.

A meeting with the town administration and the town’s attorney will take place between the two sessions.
