TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - People sentenced for municipal violations in Toledo will be jailed in neighboring Wood County now that the city has ended its partnership with a regional jail after a dispute.

The Blade newspaper (https://bit.ly/2bHAE4h ) reports that 20 inmates currently jailed at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio for code violations will finish their sentences there under a last-minute deal reached this week.

As of Wednesday, Toledo is no longer a member of the CCNO after defaulting on a nearly $1.3 million quarterly bill. The city will now send people sentenced under city ordinances to the Wood County Justice Center in Bowling Green.

The default is fallout from a judge’s recent decision that upheld Toledo’s policy holding Lucas County responsible for the jail costs of defendants arrested by Toledo police.
