BERLIN, Vt. (AP) - A new 24-hour rest stop is set to open in Vermont.

WPTZ -TV (https://bit.ly/2chRcEh ) reports the Travelers Service Center will open Friday morning in Berlin and will be the first in the state.

Wayne Lamberton says he and his partner bought a gas station seven years ago. Through a public-private partnership with the state, they added gas pumps, food and Vermont tourism information including interactive maps and brochures.

Employees at the center are trained ambassadors from the state’s tourism department.

The state expects the privately-funded hub will save taxpayers more than $10 million over the next 30 years.
