DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - A woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for beating her father to death in 1987 in a case that went unsolved until she confessed last year.

The Montgomery County prosecutor says 62-year-old Linda Baccus, of Dayton, was convicted Wednesday of involuntary manslaughter and received an agreed-upon sentence.

The prosecutor says Baccus confessed to her pastor last November and then to an investigator. Her father, Sanders Baccus, was found dead at home by one of his daughters in January 1987.

The prosecutor’s spokesman says a motive for the beating isn’t clear because so much time has passed.

Linda Baccus’ public defender didn’t immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

The prosecutor says Baccus waived her right to appeal and won’t be eligible for early judicial release.
