FORT CALHOUN, Neb. (AP) - The Heritage Days festival at Fort Atkinson State Park this fall will offer a chance to learn about history and have fun.

The event will be held on Oct. 1-2 at the state park about 15 miles north of Omaha. At the same time, the nearby town of Fort Calhoun will hold a town festival with food vendors, a parade, music, kids’ games and a tractor show.

The main festival at the state park will offer hands-on demonstrations, programs about Native American culture and reenactments showing what Nebraska life was like in the 1800s.

A tethered hot air balloon will also offer views of the park. More details are available online at www.wcHeritageDays.org .
