FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - An Arkansas State Police captain has resigned after being charged with loitering after undercover Fort Smith police say he asked them to perform a sex act while he watched.

State police say Capt. Bryan Davis submitted a one sentence memo Friday that says “Please accept this as my letter of resignation from the Arkansas State Police to be effective immediately.”

Col. Bill Bryant, the state police director, accepted the memo.

Bryant said in a statement that he’s disappointed by the allegations against Davis.

Davis was arrested Tuesday after the officers conducting a random check for sexual activity in city parks said they found Davis in a parked truck, apparently performing a sex act. A police report says Davis approached the detectives and got into their vehicle, then was arrested.
