HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut teenager authorities say viciously raped two women has been sentenced to serve 20 years in prison.

The Hartford Courant (https://cour.at/2bHWvhw ) reports that 17-year-old Jaishon Bellamy was sentenced Thursday. He previously reached a plea deal with prosecutors in which he was convicted of first-degree sexual assault for one attack and attempted murder for the other.

Bellamy was initially charged as a juvenile, but the case was moved to adult court because of the seriousness of the crimes and his name was made public.

Prosecutors say the victims, both 38, were subjected to hours-long assaults in East Hartford last September when Bellamy was 16. He was tied to both attacks by DNA.

Bellamy’s public defender sought a lesser sentence because of his client’s age and said Bellamy was remorseful.
