NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) - Authorities have been searching for an inmate who escaped from the Lincoln County Detention Center in North Platte.

Chief Deputy Roland Kramer says a courthouse maintenance worker discovered around 3:25 p.m. Thursday that his car was missing from the parking lot, and jail officials soon discovered that inmate Troy O’Brian was missing.

Kramer says the 42-year-old O’Brian is an inmate worker who apparently left his work detail. O’Brian is from Gary, Indiana, and was due to be released Thursday night.

A county dispatcher declined to say Friday morning whether O’Brian had been caught. Court records say he’d been serving concurrent sentences for theft, false reporting and obstructing a police officer.
