LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials say a deputy fatally shot a suspect who pulled a gun on him during a foot chase.

Deputy Lisa Jansen says the shooting Thursday night in the Florence area came as deputies responded to reports of a shooting victim.

While deputies were attending to the victim, other deputies attempted to detain three possible suspects at the scene.

Jansen says one of the suspects was chased down an alley and suddenly turned and pulled a revolver from his waistband.

She says that’s when the deputy opened fire. The man died at the scene. A loaded gun was recovered.

City News Service says the original gunshot victim is listed in serious condition at a hospital.
