PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say a driver left the scene after striking and killing a bicyclist in Philadelphia.

Police in Philadelphia are searching for a silver car they say struck a 42-year-old man riding his bike around 12:45 a.m. Friday in the northeast section of the city.

Philly.com reports (https://bit.ly/2bJxfVv ) that police say the bike was split into multiple pieces and the cyclist was launched several dozen feet from where the crash happened.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say they are looking for a silver car that may be a 1997 to 2001 Buick that would have heavy front-end damage.
