COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Former South Carolina receiver Sidney Rice and ex-Gamecocks slugger Justin Smoak head nine new members for the South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame.

The school announced the class Friday.

Rice caught 142 passes in two seasons with the Gamecocks before becoming a successful NFL receiver. Smoak played first base from 2006-2008 and had school records of 62 homers and 207 RBIs

Other players inducted include football players Bo Davies and Jimmy Mitchell, baseball player Ryan Bordenick, golfer David Seawell and volleyball player Shonda Cole. Two others were voted in for achievements off the field in former coaches Billy Laval and Jim Carlen.

Laval coached football, baseball and basketball at various times from 1928-34. Carlen was football coach and athletic director from 1975-81.
