BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The approach of the Labor Day weekend brings a familiar reminder from Louisiana State Police.

A news release from state police headquarters in Baton Rouge says drivers can expect “an increased law enforcement presence” on state highways. Authorities will target suspected drunk or drugged driving, failure to wear seatbelts, aggressive driving and distracted driving.

Last year, state police say five people were killed in preventable Labor Day weekend crashes.
