GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (AP) - Orange County authorities say a woman in her 80s was rescued from her burning Garden Grove home and treated for smoke inhalation.

Garden Grove Fire Capt. Thanh Nguyen says a second woman who lived in an unattached flat on the property was also treated Friday after she tried to rescue the elderly woman before firefighters arrived.

The Orange County Register says (https://bit.ly/2bI0cOs) the woman who lived in the back was the older woman’s caretaker.

Nguyen says the first firefighters on scene kicked down the front door and found the woman in her bedroom with the door closed.

Officials say the home had no smoke detectors.

The cause is under investigation.
