YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Yuma say a man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a teenager in January.

They say 18-year-old Christopher Carreno was booked Thursday into the Yuma County Detention Center on suspicion of 34 felony charges including first-degree murder.

Officers responded to a late-night call about shots fired on South 17th Avenue on Jan. 9.

They say multiple shots were fired into a vehicle and 15-year-old Victor Sanchez was critically wounded.

He was flown to a Phoenix hospital and died days later.

Police say the case is gang-related and remains under investigation.

They didn’t release any information on how Carreno was linked to the shooting.

It was unclear Thursday if Carreno has a lawyer yet.
