ST. HELENS, Ore. (AP) - Authorities say a suspicious death in rural Columbia County is now a homicide investigation.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office in a news release Wednesday identified 24-year-old Apache Rose Hightower of Portland as the person found dead Tuesday northeast of St. Helens.

Investigators used fingerprint records to make a positive identification of Hightower’s body.

An autopsy showed she died of homicidal violence.

Deputies responding to the scene Tuesday discovered her body down an embankment.

A major crimes team is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call a recorded tip line at (503) 366-4698.
