CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Gov. Maggie Hassan is nominating Capt. Christopher Wagner to serve as the next director of the New Hampshire State Police.

Wagner, of Litchfield, was recommended by Department of Safety Commissioner John Barthelmes to replace Robert Quinn, who has held the job since 2010 and is moving on to assistant commissioner of the department.

Wagner is currently the support services bureau commander for the state police. He is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the support structure and logistical needs of the various units statewide.

The nomination is subject to the Executive Council’s approval. Hassan is submitting Wagner’s nomination at the council’s meeting Wednesday in Strafford.
