NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - A man was not injured after a tractor-trailer crashed into his New Castle home.

Resident Bob Iwanowski says he was in the bathroom shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday when he “felt the whole house move a foot.”

New Castle Police spokesman Capt. Thomas Donlon says a tractor-trailer had just left a nearby Canada Dry plant when it struck a parked car and then slammed into the front of the home. The home sustained serious damage, but Iwanowski wasn’t injured.

Iwanowski says he usually would have been on his front porch smoking a cigarette at the time of the wreck, but his trip to the bathroom helped him avoid injury.

Donlon says the driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.
