DOVER, Del. (AP) - Prosecutors have dropped charges against a former Delaware lawmaker who was arrested following a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend.

John Atkins of Millsboro was charged in June with offensive touching and criminal mischief after the 38-year-old woman called 911.

The charges against Atkins were quietly dropped last month. A spokesman for the attorney general’s office said Wednesday that a prosecutor reviewed the facts and determined there was insufficient evidence to move forward.

The woman told police she had given Atkins permission to remove certain property from her Lewes home, but that an argument broke out when she discovered other items were taken.

Investigators said the woman jumped into Atkin’s truck and began trying to damage property in it. Atkins then allegedly pushed the woman and kicked her car before leaving.
