NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The U.S. attorney in New Orleans says a 46-year-old former teacher has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release after pleading guilty to transporting child pornography.

Kenneth Polite (puh-LEET) says in a news release that District Judge Sarah Vance also ordered Don Francis Jr. of Metairie to pay $8,000 restitution. Once he’s out of prison, he must register as a sex offender.

Court records show that Francis’ computer had nearly 5,400 still images and 362 videos depicting sexual victimization of children, including babies.

He pleaded guilty in April.
