DETROIT (AP) - Auto parts supplier Lear Corp. is giving Wayne State University $2.5 million to help build an auditorium in the new Mike Ilitch School of Business.

Matt Simoncini, president and CEO of Southfield-based Lear, tells the Detroit Free Press that the university “has been a great partner to Lear.”

The Detroit university says Thursday the auditorium will be named for Lear. The Mike Ilitch School of Business is scheduled to open in 2018.

Mike and Marian Ilitch last year announced a gift to help build the school near the new Red Wings arena and entertainment district. The donation included $35 million and the use of the land for construction, as well as a $5 million endowment.

The family owns Little Caesars Pizza, the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings.
