LEXINGTON, Tenn. (AP) - Officials say a Lexington High School teacher and coach is facing a rape charge.

Media outlets report that Henderson County Sheriff Brian Duke says 34-year-old Adam Yates was arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated statutory rape.

Duke says the alleged victim in the case is a minor. Officials haven’t said whether the victim is a student at the high school.

The investigation is ongoing.

According to the school’s website, Yates teaches in the special education department, and is also listed as a football/baseball coach.

The Jackson Sun reports that Henderson County Schools Superintendent Steve Wilkinson couldn’t immediately be reached for comment Wednesday evening.

It’s unclear if Yates has an attorney.
