PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia police say a report of a firebombed car that burned a man inside may just have been a car fire.

A police spokesman says the Thursday morning incident near Temple University remained under investigation and that police have made no official findings.

Authorities say the fire was reported about 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police joined the investigation after firefighters put out the blaze.

WTXF-TV is reporting the man was in stable condition after being taken to Temple University Hospital. His name hasn’t been released.

The station says the man told police someone threw something at the vehicle before it caught fire, but police are still searching for the cause.
