JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame has announced its six-person Class of 2017, including former football star Marcus Dupree.

Dupree, from Philadelphia, Mississippi, was one of the most highly-recruited players in the country when he signed with Oklahoma in 1982. He ran for more than 1,000 yards during his freshman season with the Sooners and was the Fiesta Bowl MVP before injuries hampered his career.

The other inductees in the Class of 2017 are Jackson State baseball coach and athletic director Bob Braddy Sr., Harrison Central and Ole Miss basketball star Eugenia Conner, sportswriter Rick Cleveland, Alcorn State and NFL player and coach Leslie Frazier and Mississippi State and MLB pitcher Jay Howell.

The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame induction weekend will be Aug. 4-5.
