PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - The company redeveloping a former industrial space in Portland wants to turn it into one of the largest mixed-use projects in the city’s history.

Project developer CPB2, LLC wants to turn the former Portland Company site into nearly 60,000 square feet of retail space, more than 600 residential units and a marina with 220 slips.

The developer also wants to build more than 120,000 square feet of office space.

Maine Public Radio (https://bit.ly/2cNZyoS ) reports the site plan needs to be approved and the developers will have to go through meetings with planning and historic preservation boards.

The $250 million site would redevelop a 960,000 square-foot parcel. The company wants to begin construction next year.
