JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Port Authority police used their car to stop a vehicle after the driver passed out behind the wheel on the New Jersey Turnpike extension.

Police say the officers saw the vehicle scraping the concrete barrier along the toll road in Jersey City and the motorist convulsing on Tuesday night. They positioned their patrol car in front of the vehicle and stopped it.

Officers broke a window and found 32-year-old Dennis Angeles of Scotch Plains unconscious. Emergency medical technicians administered Narcan and Angeles was taken to a hospital.

A white powdery substance was found in the vehicle.

Angeles was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and driving under the influence.

It’s not known if he has a lawyer.
