MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Police say an unidentified student was caught with an unloaded gun, drugs and stolen property at a high school in Manchester thanks to a tip from a concerned classmate.

The Manchester High School West student is facing both criminal charges and a possible expulsion following Thursday’s discovery. Police did not release the identity or grade of the student because he or she is a juvenile.

Officials say the student confessed to having the items in a backpack after being questioned by the school resource officer. The student was reportedly cooperative and the items were confiscated without incident.

Parents were notified of the situation but the student body was not. Lt. Nicole Ledoux says that’s because the case was handled quickly and there was no risk of danger.
