MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - Divers have recovered the body of a swimmer who drowned at Emigrant Lake outside Ashland.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says the 40-year-old man was swimming in a cove near the water slides Monday when he suddenly struggled, went under and didn’t resurface.

Divers found the body in at least 10 feet of water close to the shore.

Sgt. Shawn Richards tells the Mail Tribune (https://is.gd/Ut81wv ) that divers had to search with their hands because of poor visibility on the lake bottom.
