ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A flash flood watch has been issued for much of eastern New Mexico beginning at noon and until late Tuesday night.

Forecasters say there will be heavy rain-producing storms, particularly across the east—central and southeastern plains as well as the south-central mountains.

The weather service says some storms Tuesday afternoon may produce large hail and strong winds and that Roswell, Clovis and Portales may see impacts from storm runoff.

The remnants of Hurricane Newton are expected to move into western New Mexico on Wednesday, creating the possibility of heavy rain and flash flooding across the west-central and southwestern mountains and adjacent areas.
