Iowa State (0-1) at No. 16 Iowa (1-0), 7:42 p.m. (BTN)

Line: Iowa by 15

Series Record: Iowa leads 41-22.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

Bragging rights for an entire year in a state without a major pro sports team but a ton of passion for the Hawkeyes and Cyclones. Iowa will look to beat Iowa State for the sixth time in its last nine meetings, while first-year Cyclones coach Matt Campbell could notch his first signature win.

KEY MATCHUP

Iowa CB Desmond King vs. Iowa State WR Allen Lazard: Miami (Ohio) barely threw King’s way last week in a 45-21 loss. But the Cyclones have a special talent in Lazard, so look for the Hawkeyes to break with convention and get the reigning Thorpe Award winner matched up with Lazard as often as they can. Lazard had 129 yards receiving and a touchdown in last week’s 25-20 loss to Northern Iowa.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Iowa: LB Josey Jewell. He was ejected for targeting last week, so it’ll be interesting to see if Jewell is a bit cautious in his return. That’s unlikely though, given that Jewell’s fiery play drives Iowa’s defense.

Iowa State: RB Mike Warren. He led all freshmen nationally in rushing yards in 2015, but Warren had just 30 last week. Even though the Cyclones line figures to have a tough time with Iowa’s front seven, expect the Cyclones to try to get Warren going in the first half.

FACTS & FIGURES

Iowa hasn’t beaten Iowa State at home since 2010, when it rolled to a 35-7 win. …This will be the first meeting between Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz and Campbell, who spent the past four seasons at Toledo. …The Cy-Hawk Trophy, awarded to the winner, is one of four trophies the Hawkeyes still have possession of after last year’s 12-0 regular season. … The game is a sellout at 70,585. It will be the third matchup in eight days in the state of Iowa - which has just three million people - to draw at least 60,000 fans.
