GALVESTON, Texas (AP) - Laura Elder, business editor of The Galveston County Daily News, has been named the daily’s new managing editor.

She succeeds Scott E. Williams, who died of a heart attack Aug. 17.

The Daily News (https://bit.ly/2cG7V1z) reports Elder will continue to edit the newspaper’s business pages, as well as Coast Monthly magazine and the League City and clear Lake Connection editions.

Elder joined the newspaper as a business reporter in 2000. She lives in Galveston with her husband, Galveston County Daily News Editor Michael A. Smith.
