ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say a Conifer man is dead after falling in the Maroon Bells area near Aspen.

The Aspen Times reports (https://goo.gl/XvLHTV ) 68-year-old Stevan Sprowles fell Wednesday, and rescuers responded to the area after a personal locator device was activated.

Search crews tracked the device and found Sprowles’ 30-year-old hiking partner, who was helped down by two climbers from Boulder.

Investigators have not said how far Sprowles fell.
