SEATTLE (AP) - Seattle police say they’ve arrested a man who has been wanted for the past four years for a shooting in the city’s Central District.

The department said Thursday officers tracked down 26-year-old Curtis Snipes and arrested him after a brief pursuit through Renton on Tuesday.

Snipes was wanted in the shooting of a former friend in 2012. The victim of the shooting, a 44-year-old man, survived.

Officers said they tailed Snipes as he rode in a friend’s Hummer sport-utility vehicle, and when they tried to pull it over, the driver sped off into oncoming traffic on the Maple Valley Highway - with the driver’s 6-year-old son also inside.

The vehicle stopped about a half-mile away, and police say Snipes ran off but was caught on the banks of the nearby Cedar River.
