CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - Conway police say a 66-year-old man was shot to death while driving on a city street.

Police say Robert Lee Givens was dead at the scene after crashing his vehicle following the shooting about 12:30 a.m. Friday.

Police spokeswoman LaTresha Woodruff says Givens’ daughter told officers the two had left a local store when a sport utility vehicle drove up behind them and the driver flashed the lights.

The daughter told police her father stopped and talked to the driver and she heard the other man say he thought Givens was someone else.

The daughter said Givens began to drive away when the SUV pulled beside them and someone in the vehicle opened fire, hitting Givens who then crashed his vehicle. The driver of the SUV then drove away.
