FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky Arts Council says teachers and administrators can apply to participate in a new program that will bring professional artists into schools.

A statement from the Kentucky Arts Council says schools can apply to participate in the Showcasing the Arts program through Oct. 1.

The program allows Kentucky-based visual and performing artists to visit schools and present or perform their work, discuss the training and creative processes involved in producing the work and answer questions about it. The content and format are based on the Kentucky Academic Standards for the Arts.

Public and private schools that support preschool through 12th grade can apply for a grant, which pays the artist’s fees. Schools are required to provide a performance space and pay for travel reimbursement.
