ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - Arlington County Police say a man wanted in the 1999 slaying of a woman whose body was found in the trunk of his car has been returned to Virginia.

The department said in a news release that 46-year-old Ludvin Estrada arrived in the U.S. Friday after being extradited from Guatemala. He is being held in the Arlington County Detention Facility on a murder charge.

Officers say on May 11, 1999, Estrada and 27-year-old Eva Veliz had been out dancing. Police say the two got into a fight, and Estrada strangled Veliz. Her body was found that afternoon in his car’s trunk.

Authorities say Estrada immediately fled to Guatemala. He was arrested there on April 11.
