FARGO, N.D. (AP) - U.S. Attorney Christopher Myers says a Milwaukee man accused of conspiring to transport a minor for the purpose of prostitution has been sentenced to more than five years in prison.

Myers says 29-year-old Tyrice Excell Akins was sentenced Friday. Akins pleaded guilty in April to sex trafficking of children and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.

Authorities say the case came to the attention of law enforcement after the North Dakota Highway Patrol pulled over a rental vehicle in which a man was transporting a 17-year-old female from Milwaukee to Bismarck for the purpose of prostitution.

Authorities say an investigation revealed that the man was provided narcotics by Akins in exchange for transporting women to various locations throughout the United States.
