LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) - The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest is proposing increased or additional fees at several recreation sites inside the 4 million acre forest.

The Lewiston Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2cf2ZBK ) that the proposed fees would help add the sites to www.recreation.gov , which would allow more people to discover the areas, and otherwise would go to general maintenance costs.

The agency is proposing $40 per night fees for Gold Meadows and Liz Creek cabins, and $45 per night at the Scurvy Mountain and Wallow Mountain lookouts. New fees would also be added to some campgrounds and sheltered day-use sites.

Public comments on the proposed fees will be accepted until Oct. 14.
