CARIBOU, Maine (AP) - A medical center in northern Maine will receive $200,000 from the federal government to support health care in rural Aroostook County.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is giving the money to Cary Medical Center, a 65-bed acute care hospital in Caribou. The money is from the Small Health Care Provider Quality Improvement Program.

The program provides three years of funding to rural primary care providers so they can improve the quality of their service.

Maine Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King say the money will help the hospital provide service to northern Maine residents.
