RONAN, Mont. (AP) - A Ronan man was injured when the ultralight aircraft he was piloting landed hard and flipped onto its top.

Lake County Sheriff Don Bell says the aircraft came down in a field near the pilot’s home on Friday afternoon. His family witnessed the crash. Bell says it was the first time the man had flown the aircraft.

Bell tells KGVO-AM (https://bit.ly/2cwZpT7 ) that the man suffered a cut on his head, but he didn’t know what other injuries he might have. He was taken to the hospital in Ronan.

Bell says the aircraft was about 18 feet long and 20 to 25 feet wide.
