SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Two jail employees have been fired and a jail commander has resigned two months after Utah authorities announced they were investigating allegations of inmate mistreatment at a rural county jail.

Daggett County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Susie Potter said in a statement Wednesday evening that the terminations resulted from investigation findings. She did not offer additional details about the findings or allegations and did not return a message seeking additional information.

Utah’s Department of Corrections moved 80 inmates out of the Daggett County jail in February when the investigation was launched.

Utah Department of Corrections spokeswoman Maria Peterson said the state is still investigating and she could not offer additional details Wednesday.
