INDIANTOWN, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say three people were killed and two others were seriously injured when a man tried to pass a tractor-trailer on a central Florida road.

Local news outlets report that the crash occurred Monday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that 24-year-old Ronny Morales-Perez was traveling on State Route 710 when went into the oncoming lane to pass the semi and crashed head-on into another car.

Officials say the occupants of the other car, 47-year-old Odilon Velasquez Morales, 34-year-old Abel Perez Hernandez and 34-year-old Carlos Lopez Maldanado, died at the scene.

Moralez-Perez and his passenger, 27-year-old Armando Gomez Garcia, were taken to a West Palm Beach hospital.



FHP continues to investigate. No charges were immediately reported.
